Leave No Trace
IUF supports Leave No Trace, an all-Ireland programme to promote and inspire responsible outdoor recreation through education, research and partnerships. Increasing numbers participating in outdoor recreation can result in negative impacts on local residents, wildlife and the natural environment. The Leave No Trace programme helps recreational users understand these impacts, and equips them with the knowledge to make better choices when using the outdoors, by following seven core principles.

Young Observers
Hosted in partnership with Wicklow Uplands Council, Young Observers is a programme to raise awareness of landscape amongst Transition Year students in Co. Wicklow. The 2009 programme, delivered in conjunction with Baltinglass OEC and Mountaineering Ireland, will include a residential workshop for 30 students from six different schools. During the workshop the participants will explore their connection with the landscape through adventure activities, visits to heritage sites and meeting with people who live and work in the uplands. In the weeks following the workshop the students will prepare a project reflecting on their experience, for presentation in November 2009.
