Socio-Economic Impacts of the EU Kerry LIFE Project, Iveragh Peninsula, Co Kerry
Monday, 7PM to 9PM
August 16, 2021
This online project, presented by IUF Board member, Dr. Breandán O Caoimh, will highlight the results of a socio-economic review of the EU Kerry LIFE project.
The Kerry LIFE project was designed to improve water quality in the Caragh River catchment in the Iveragh Peninsula through targeted agri-environmental measures over a period of five years. Consultations with participating farm families demonstrated the positive benefits gained through measures taken by them to enhance water quality and protect the freshwater pearl mussel for future generations. Video clips prepared by the families highlight their pleasure in seeing the benefits of their work, while the project offers an informed critique to inform the design of future LIFE programmes.
