Call for Research Applications

Irish Uplands Forum (IUF) Research Grant 2018
Call for Research – 2nd Opening (until 1st August 2018)

IUF is offering a small research grant (€500) for a research project concerned with mountains.
A mountain area is defined as any area>150m on the island of Ireland.

Eligible Topics
• Physical environment of mountains (particularly water)
• Natural environment of mountains (particularly in relation to farming and recreation)
• Cultural environment (evidence of past use, people who live, work or recreate in mountain areas).
• AOT (any other topic) related to the centrality of mountains in provision of ecosystems and cultural services.

Eligibility
Any person is welcome to apply, but particularly masters students.

Application
Word limit: 300 words.
Write about your relevant experience, your objective, methodology, outputs and timeline.
Send your application with two references (one from a supervisor – if relevant – and another from an independent researcher) to enquiries@irishuplandsforum.org
There are two deadlines for applications: 1st February 2018 (now closed) and 1st August 2018.

Terms and Conditions
Willingness to engage with members of local/ community groups/residents /activists in IUF including IUF research officer, Dr Mary Tubridy.
Submit digital copy of evidence of work i.e. final draft of study.
Acknowledge IUF in any reports/publications/talks.

Process
IUF will assess applications on two occasions in each year.
The result will be announced within one month of closing date for applications.
50% of the research grant will be given at the start of the project and the balance on delivery of the final report.
